Pointing Breed Training

at the farm

Pointing breeds are born with the drive our job is to shape it into a focused, polished hunting partner.
At The Farm, our pointing dog program builds strong field fundamentals, refines natural talent, and creates reliable dogs that hold point, honor their brace mate, and retrieve to hand.

What Our Pointing Breed Training Covers

Natural Point Development

We encourage and refine your dog’s natural pointing instinct through controlled exposure to birds, confident points that hold under pressure.

Steadiness to Flush, Shot & Fall

Your dog will learn to remain composed through the full sequence — from locating game, to flush, to gunfire — and hold until released.

Quartering & Pattern Control

We teach dogs to work efficiently within gun range, using the wind and terrain to maximize bird contact without pushing too far ahead.

Retrieve to Hand

Dogs will be taught to retrieve downed birds cleanly and return them directly to hand using either natural retrieve or force fetch.
